Elm Antique Chinese Bench

This antique Chinese bench is a versatile piece that can be used in any space. It is perfect for providing extra seating at the end of a bed or in a window alcove, following the traditional style of wooden benches that have been used throughout China for centuries. These benches, also known as ‘Spring benches’, were commonly seen outside of restaurants, shops, and other small businesses, providing a place for customers and staff to rest. This particular bench is from Shanxi province and, like most furniture from the region, it is constructed from durable elm wood with a beautiful, weathered finish. The seat of the bench is made from a single elm plank and its classic Chinese design features A-frame, rounded legs that are supported by double stretchers, fitting snugly under the seat.
