MSE PRO™ 300mL General-Purpose Hydrothermal Reactor

The MSE PRO™ General-Purpose Hydrothermal Reactor is a high-pressure digestion vessel designed for use in ovens, featuring a chemically inert PTFE liner and a robust non-magnetic AISI 321 stainless steel outer shell. It creates a sealed, high-temperature, high-pressure environment using strong acids or bases to rapidly dissolve otherwise insoluble substances. Widely used in solvothermal synthesis of nanomaterials, small-scale pressurized reactions, and sample digestion for analytical techniques such as AAS and ICP-OES, it is ideal for the pre-treatment of samples containing heavy metals, pesticide residues, food, sludge, rare earths, aquatic products, and organic compounds in trace and ultra-trace element analysis.

A complete hydrothermal reactor set includes a stainless steel outer shell and a PTFE liner. The PTFE liner is also available for separate purchase.

Precautions for Using a Hydrothermal Reactor

1. Check Vapor Pressure Before Use
   Before using the hydrothermal reactor, carefully review the saturated vapor pressure of the solvent at the intended reaction temperature. Ensure that it does not exceed the reactor’s maximum allowable operating pressure.

2. Avoid Over-tightening for PTFE-Lined Reactors
   When using hydrothermal reactors with PTFE liners, avoid over-tightening the reactor lid or top bolts during initial use. PTFE is slightly compressible under high temperature and pressure, and excessive tightening may cause deformation due to thermal expansion during operation.

3. Lubricate Threads for High-Temperature Use
   When operating above 150°C, it is recommended to apply a thin layer of high-temperature lithium-based grease to the lid threads before tightening. This prevents thread galling or seizing under high temperatures. (For models with silver-plated threads, lubrication is not required.)

4. Do Not Use the Reactor Under the Following Conditions:

   a. Solvents with boiling points below 60°C (e.g., diethyl ether, acetone, dichloromethane);
   b. Reactions that generate a large volume of gas;
   c. Materials that are flammable, explosive, or classified as extremely or highly hazardous/toxic
