1970 Bobak marmot print

● Did you know that there re steppes marmots as well as Alpine ones? This lovely little vintage marmot print shows the Bobak marmot, a large ground squirrel which is found in the steppes of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Fun fact: they hibernate underground for more than half the year!

This wonderful book page comes from a French Swiss book published in 1970 called “Mammals of Europe”, illustrated by the famous French naturalist Paul Barruel. Barruel’s rodent paintings are so lifelike !
